ST LEONARDS CAMERA CLUB
COMPETITION RULES
Current paid up members of St Leonards Camera Club may enter the following camera club competitions to be held each season:
Internal Competitions
Three competitions shall be held each season. Competition dates will be as indicated on the programme. The classes that will be open to all members will be as follows:
Monochrome Prints – Intermediate and Advanced
Colour Prints – Intermediate and Advanced
Digital Projected Images- Intermediate and Advanced
Members may enter up to 4 mono prints, 4 colour prints and 4 digital projected images in each of the three internal competitions.
To encourage participation in competitions and to overcome fear of competing with more advanced members, any member can choose to enter the intermediate class. Once a member has chosen to enter work into the intermediate class they should continue in that class until the end of that season. Thereafter they are again free to choose the class they wish to compete in. For the avoidance of doubt if a member has not indicated they wish to participate in the intermediate class, they will automatically be entered into the advanced class.
Marks will be awarded, out of a maximum of twenty, to each entry by the judge. The running points total for each member is to be posted on the noticeboard – a bit like a football league! After the last internal competition of the season, the marks for the eight highest marked entries by each entrant in each class will be totalled. Awards will be made to those members achieving the highest total of marks for eight entries in each of the classes.
A print or digital image may be entered only once in any individual internal competition class. However, this rule shall not operate so as to exclude entries made from the same negative or electronic image provided that they differ substantially. Identical images shall not be entered in the print and digital image competitions in the same season. An image shall not be submitted as both a monochrome and as a colour version in the same season.
All prints must be identified by a title and bear the entrant’s name and the class entered.
All prints must be mounted. Prints and their mounts shall be of any size, up to a maximum of 20” x16” overall.
Monochrome shall be black and white and fully-toned work. In the case of partial toning or the addition of one colour, the entrant may choose the section in which he or she wants a print to be judged. (Please note that this rule differs to FIAP rules that apply in many other competitions).
For digital projected images these must be submitted in JPEG format. Suggested image size 1024 px horizontal and 768 px vertical with a maximum size of JPEG 2MB. Images must be submitted on CD-Roms and not by email. Your images should be numbered from 1 to 4 followed by the title. EG 1.titleofimage.jpeg. Please print your name on the CD and on the sleeve. For ease please also write the titles on the sleeve of the CD.
